Perez is on course to retain leadership of the Madrid citadel
On Sunday, the results of a preliminary opinion poll conducted by the Spanish radio “COPE” showed the current president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, a comfortable victory over his young rival, Enrique Riquelme.
According to the poll, Peres received 206 votes out of 300, or 68.67%, compared to Riquelme’s 94 votes, or 31.33%.

Perez voted at about 10:00 a.m. Madrid time amid a large reception by members as he wanted to greet them and take photos with them.
On the other hand, Enrique Riquelme voted about an hour later to the applause of his supporters, describing this election as “not an ordinary election, but a referendum” on the future model of the club.
In press statements, Riquelme also emphasized the need for the change to “maintain the independence of the lineup,” saying: “My commitment with all members of Real Madrid was that if we were nominated, we would try to stop the sale of the club as the first red line. If we had not taken this step, the club would have been sold.
It should be noted that around 70,000 members are invited to take part in this suffrage, which runs until 20:00 tonight local time.
Peres won unopposed in the 2009, 2013, 2017, 2021 and 2025 elections. His current term was scheduled to end in 2029 before he decided to hold a snap election.
