Confirm Enrique Riquelme, candidate for president of Real MadridThe current electoral process is not an ordinary election after a 20-year absence, but rather a fateful referendum to determine the club’s future and prevent its sale, stressing the need to revolutionize and establish the principles of transparency, democracy and governance within the institution.
Enrique Riquelme told the media present in Valdebebas to cover the presidential elections, after he voted and took many commemorative photos with members of the General Assembly.
“Now we can vote, 20 years later,” Rickelme said. “My commitment to all members of Real Madrid was that if we run, it will be to try to stop the sale of the club as the first red line, and then to create a professional, serious and interesting project.
Riquelme repeated his pre-election promises, saying: “I promise the members that if I become president, they will believe that this nomination is the winner. I also hope that everyone was able to come to vote and I am very grateful to them, especially as I know that Madrid is witnessing an extremely crowded situation today.”
“I saw a huge number of people and I am really very excited and grateful to all the members of Real Madrid who were able to come to appreciate the serious candidacy that puts the member at the center of everything after 20 years of oblivion and gradual distance, which has reached the point that if we had not taken this step, it would not have been normal after Real Madrid’s election. 20 years, but rather it is a referendum.”
“If we hadn’t taken action today and a Real member had not come to vote, this might have been the last Real election, at least as we know it today.
“We are really concerned about the economic situation of Real Madrid, and this issue really requires changes. The club must be built on future legacies, great achievements by great presidents, great titles and huge projects, but it must also be a foundation for building the future.
“If we can get members today to appreciate and vote for what we’ve achieved in just two weeks, imagine what we can do in the coming months. Thank you very much to everyone, and I extend my thanks to the members and media who covered this event.
