Has he lost faith in Barcelona? Bernardo sets the selection criteria for his new team

After the Portuguese national team’s victory over Chile (2-1), midfielder Bernardo Silva spoke about his future, which recently raises many questions.

Silva was asked after the game, which saw a lot of controversy following the controversy surrounding the sending off of Rafael Leao, what he had been told about negotiations with Barcelona.

He said that Barcelona is an “option” for him, but he has not yet decided which club he will join after leaving Manchester City.

Silva said at the Estadio Nacional do Jamor in Oeiras, on the outskirts of Lisbon, that he has “many options” on the table, declining to talk about a specific club as he “respects all the teams” interested in his services.

He added: “At the end I will try to find a team that wants me because I feel they really want me. This is very important, and the day I make a decision, you will know it.”

Bernardo Silva, 31, is looking for a new club after recently ending a successful nine-season spell with Manchester City under manager Pep Guardiola, who also left the club.

Silva currently plays for the Portugal national team and played a key role in a 2-1 win over Chile in a friendly in preparation for the 2026 World Cup, which starts next Thursday in the USA, Mexico and Canada.
