Third round of Memorial Tournament postponed due to thunderstorms

The third round of the Memorial Tournament was postponed due to thunderstorms and will resume on Sunday with JT Poston and Ryan Gerrard leading the way.

The American pair were nine-under par on the sixth green when the hooter sounded to signal a second thunderstorm in the region.

The game was suspended for the day in Muirfield Village, Ohio, after an hour and 40 minute delay.

The third round will resume at 07:30 local time (12:30 BST), followed by the final round in three groups from the first and 10th tees.

Sam Burns is third at eight-under, one shot ahead of American Eric Cole. England’s Tommy Fleetwood and Americans Wyndham Clarke and Keegan Bradley are at four-under.

England’s Justin Rose is at two under. World number one Scotty Scheffler, aiming to win the tournament for the third straight year, and Masters champion Rory McIlroy are among the underdogs.
