Real Madrid presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme has released a statement confirming Jurgen Klopp will be his choice for the manager’s job at the Bernabeu if elected on Sunday.
Riquelme will battle Florentino Perez in Sunday’s presidential election at Real Madrid – having already claimed he will try to sign the Manchester City duo Erling Haaland And Rodri If he is elected.
Man City are considering legal action over Haaland’s player image rights following the announcement.
Another commitment made by Riquelme is to install club legends Raoul As sports director. Real do not currently employ a sporting director and Raul coached Real Madrid’s B team until last year.
But according to Riquelme, Raul’s only recommendation for the head coach role was former Liverpool boss Klopp.
A statement from Riquelme’s office said: “We know that Jurgen Klopp has publicly stated that he has no intention of returning to the dugout in the short term and has turned down many offers.
“That’s why we believe Real Madrid’s challenge is different. Because there are great clubs, but there is only one Real Madrid. There is only one institution capable of combining tradition and future, values and ambition, passion and excellence.
“For that reason, if the members give me their confidence this Sunday, on Monday June 8, Raul Gonzalez Blanco (Real Madrid’s sporting director) will personally contact Jurgen Klopp to inform him of our sporting project and our desire to lead our new era at Real Madrid, from the bench.”

Meanwhile, Perez has already revealed that Jose Mourinho He will be the new head coach of Real Madrid on Sunday.
Benfica have already announced that Mourinho will step down as head coach of the Lisbon club if Perez wins the election.

Perez also announced the signing of defenders Denzel Dumfries And Ibrahim Konate. Both transfers are subject to Perez continuing as Real Madrid president.
The current Real president, who has held the position since 2000 and has overseen arguably the club’s most successful period, has also pledged to offer €150m (£129.6m) for one of Europe’s top players.
Multiple reports claim the player is from Bayern Munich Michael Ollis.

Perez’s rival Riquelme claimed on a Spanish TV show The Anthill On Wednesday night Haaland had a release clause and wanted to move to the Bernabeu. He also held a Real shirt with ‘Haaland 9’ on the back.
Riquelme, who also promised to sign Haaland’s City team-mate Rodri, said: “If I break my promise on one of these players, I have signed a guarantee where I will pay 100 per cent of the membership fee for next season.
“Haaland has a release clause and wants to come to Madrid.”
However, Manchester City have moved quickly to refute the claims, saying in a statement that there is “no chance” Haaland will leave the Etihad Stadium anytime soon. The Premier League club also said they were considering legal action over the shirt stunt.
A City spokesman said in a statement: “The stories coming out of Spain about Erling Haaland’s future are untrue.
“There is no possibility of this happening and there is no contractual clause to enable this. We are considering legal action for the use of our player images in this context.”
Haaland is under contract at the Etihad until the summer of 2034 and the player’s agent Rafaela Pimenta and his father Alfie Haaland have scoffed at suggestions the 25-year-old could soon move to the Spanish capital.
A joint statement released on Thursday morning said: “All very funny but not true. We wish both candidates the best of luck in the Real Madrid election.”
Riquelme also said he would sign City midfielder Rodri, whose current deal runs until 2027.
The 29-year-old Spain international has previously been linked with Real but City still consider him part of their plans. Rodri said earlier this week that he did not want to discuss his future after the World Cup.

Former Liverpool manager Klopp has not returned to manage the club since leaving Anfield in the summer of 2024.
The German currently serves as head of global soccer at Red Bull’s Sporting Group – a position he holds from January 2025.
On two occasions since leaving Liverpool, Klopp has said he was “done” as a coach – the latest of those statements coming in September last year.
However, when Klopp was linked with the Real Madrid job earlier this year, he dismissed those reports – but admitted he was open to a return to managing the club.
“If Real Madrid had called, we would have known about it by now,” he said in March.
“But that’s nonsense. They never called, not once. I have an agent, you can ask him. They never called him either.
“At the moment I’m not thinking about it, fortunately there’s no reason. For my age, I’m quite advanced in life, but I’m not quite finished as a coach. I haven’t reached retirement age.
“Who knows what will happen in the coming years. But nothing is planned.”
