Manchester United watching from afar
British press reports have revealed an official English inquiry into Barcelona’s left-back, a move that could change the features of the left-back at the Camp Nou this summer.
The British “Mirror” newspaper reported that “Manchester United” entered preliminary negotiations to explore the possibility of including Alejandro Balde (22 years old), who no longer has the status he had two seasons ago.
The surprise came not only from English interests, but from the positions of “Barcelona”. According to the newspaper, the Catalan club were open to the idea of selling, provided a suitable offer came in, in a sign that could open the door to an indirect swap deal in the market.
According to the newspaper, the reason is related to Barcelona’s desire to return the Spanish Mark Cukurella from Chelsea. The club are set to make an offer of between €45m and €55m for the international full-back, and Balde’s sale could fully fund the deal.
For his part, the player doesn’t appear to be sticking around at all costs as his minutes have dropped this season to just 42 appearances for a total of 2,806 minutes and 3 goalless contributions in 2025-26, in addition to his displeasure over Joao Cancelo’s loan deal last January, prompting the idea of a move away from Old Trafford.
