Turkish Al-Ahli defender Merih Demiral has sparked more speculation about a possible move to Fenerbahce in the upcoming summer transfer window, despite multiple denials from the Saudi club.
Hakan Safi, the candidate for the president of “Fenerbahçe” club, confirmed that he will sign a contract with Demiral in the upcoming summer transfer period. If he wins the presidential elections of the Turkish club.
Al-Ahly’s official page on the X website has published several tweets confirming that the Turkish defender will remain with the team next season, denying that he will leave the ranks in the summer Mercato.
Despite this, Demiral made a loud surprise after he decided to follow Hakan Safi’s Instagram page, according to reliable Turkish journalist Yagız Sabunkoğlu.
Demiral’s behavior sparked controversy as some saw it as evidence of his desire to move to a Turkish club and leave the Saudi club.
This comes as the Turkish defender extended his contract with Al-Ahli last March for the next 3 seasons until 2029, forcing Fenerbahce to negotiate with Al-Raqi to include him.
Demiral has been regarded as one of Al-Ahly’s most important players in the last three years since he joined the team in the summer of 2023, where he helped them win the AFC Elite Champions League title twice and the Saudi Arabian Super Cup.
