Germany’s Alexander Zverev reached the final of the Roland Garros tennis championships after a crushing victory over Czech Jakub Minčić (7-5), (6-2), (3-6), (6-3), one step away from achieving his biggest dream of winning the first Grand Slam title of his career.
Zverev will be competing in his fourth Grand Slam final, following the 2020 US Open, 2025 Australian Open and 2024 Roland Garros finals against Alcaraz, which ended in his defeat, becoming the first player in history to reach four Grand Slam finals without winning a title.
Mencic, who reached the semi-finals of a major tournament for the first time, showed exceptional skills on the clay courts of Paris. He had a golden opportunity in the eighth game of the first set, but Zverev regained his composure and decided the match in his favor just before the tiebreaker.

Zverev now waits to find out his opponent in next Sunday’s final, where he will face the winner of a decisive match between Italy’s Flavio Copoli and American Sebastian Arnaldi, with the German looking to achieve the biggest achievement of his career and break the finals curse that has dogged him in recent years.
