Google is making it easy to skip watching YouTube Shorts on its TV devices without opening the dedicated YouTube app. The Google TV home page will soon display “Short videos for you” in line with custom videos.
The update is expected to roll out to Google TV devices in the US sometime this summer, though Google hasn’t specified an exact date. The company said, however, that videos shown through the display will start and YouTube Shorts, which suggests that similar video streaming services like TikTok and Instagram Reels may also be supported.
The small home theater line was announced alongside other Google TV updates, including support for the Google Nano Banana generative AI model and the Veo video generator via the Gemini tab. Google Photos is also getting new Search and Remix capabilities for Google TV devices, allowing users to search for real photos with their words and transform them into other colors, such as watercolor or oil paint.
This feature is only available for Gemini in the US at this time. Dynamic Slideshow will be available globally, which allows users to display any Google Photos album as a screen when the TV is blank.
