King Charles III and Donald Trump exchanged jokes during the talks

Donald Trump praised King Charles III for getting the “Democrats to stand up” in his speech to Congress, as the pair exchanged jokes at a state dinner on Tuesday.

At a reception on the second day of the King and Queen’s visit to the US, the King spoke about the Middle East crisis, his estranged Sir Winston Churchill in the White House and Trump’s “fix” in the White House.

“If you weren’t us, you’d be speaking French,” he joked, referring to the eighteenth-century war between Britain and France for control of North America.
