Keely Hodgkinson claimed a personal best as she finished seventh in her women’s 400m Diamond League debut in Rome.

Paris gold medalist Jarmila Kratochvilova is looking to break the nearly 43-year-old women’s outdoor 800m record this summer and further improved her 400m pace, coming home in 51.14 in a race won by Henriette Jaeger.

Hodgkinson edged out compatriot Amber Anning, who was fifth in 50.19 at the Stadio Olimpico.

Two-time world indoor champion Molly Cowdery jumped a season’s best 4.80m to win the pole vault title, while co-indoor champion Georgia Hunter Bell took first in the women’s 1500m with a time of three minutes 58.63 seconds.

Hodgkinson speaks after winning 800m gold in championship record time at the World Athletics Indoor Championships

Olympic champion Julien Alfred won the women’s 200m, while 2025 world championships silver medalist Amy Hunt finished fourth in 22.52s ahead of fifth-placed Dina Asher-Smith, who finished in 22.76s.

Olympic champion Noah Lyles won the men’s 100m title with a time of 9.88 seconds, with Emmanuel Esseme of Cameroon and Letsile Tebogo of Botswana second and third respectively. Jeremiah Azu came in ninth.
