What happened in Metropolitano?
The incident in the stands at the Metropolitano Stadium last April resurfaced after cameras caught an Atletico Madrid fan hurling racist abuse at young star Lamine Yamal during a corner kick during a Spanish league match between the two teams.
The Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” reported in its report that the anti-violence committee recommended punishing the season ticket holder by fining him 4,000 euros and banning him from entering the stadiums for a whole year, amid the insults directed at the Barcelona player.
The incident took place on April 4 of last year, in the match of the 30th round of La Liga, which ended with Barcelona’s 2-1 victory over Atletico. According to the report, cameras caught a fan in the lower stand on the north side insulting Yamal as he approached to take the corner.

The newspaper said the fan was easily identified thanks to surveillance footage, which enabled the committee to determine his whereabouts and recommend punishment as part of a package of measures announced on Thursday to tackle racist behavior in Spanish stadiums.
