Google Photos update has saved your digital photo

Aura digital photo frames will continue to sync with your Google Photos albums, an API change threatens to remove that feature. Aura now begins to fully migrate to The new Google Ambient APIallowing your Aura wallpapers to be automatically updated with new photos, instead of requiring owners to add them manually through the Google Photos app.

“With our updated Google Photos integration, you can add photos from the Google Photos app or sync an entire Google Photos album to automatically update Aura frames,” Aura said in the announcement. “Photos are sent directly to your Aura frames from Google Photos, without the need for manual uploading.”

While Aura users can add photos to their photos Native albums in the camera roll on iOS or local albums in folders on Android, for those who use auto-sync with Google Photos, Aura said about this he will be disabled. This happened because Google changed the way apps can access Google Photos libraries. Aura announced in March that it was working with Google to maintain formand now it has completely migrated to the new API.

That said, there are a few changes that come with the new Google Ambient API, most notably that adding photos to Aura frames will now be done in the Google Photos app instead of Aura. Book 1:1 photo selection is also moving to Google Sheets for iOS users, or via the new in-app photo selection tool on Android.

Existing users need to re-link their Google Photos albums in the Aura app so that the albums won’t sync with the new photos. Just open the Aura app, select your frame, click “Add Photos”, and connect your Google account. New Aura customers must set up and use photo sync manually using the iOS website or Android device.
