video "The saga continues".. Lance announces the permanent induction of Saud Abdul Hamid

The Saudi full-back continues in France

French club Lens have announced the permanent signing of Saudi full-back Saud Abdul Hamid from Italian side Roma following the end of last season’s loan deal.

The French club published a video on its official page of the “X” website, in which it announced the extension of the contract with the Saudi winger for the next 3 years, until 2029, commenting: “The saga continues.”

Saud Abdul Hamid played for Lens last season on loan from Roma for €500,000, with a clause allowing him to sign a permanent deal for €3.5m, which the French club did.

Lance’s decision follows the 26-year-old’s impressive performances last season, where he scored three goals and provided eight assists in 31 Ligue 1 and French Cup appearances.

These performances helped Lens win the Coupe de France for the first time in their history, in addition to finishing second in the French league, just 6 points behind Champions League champions PSG.

Saud Abdul Hamid began his European career in the summer of 2024 when Roma signed him from Al Hilal for €2.5 million including add-ons, but he scored just one goal in eight games, leaving him to join Lens.

Although he was repeatedly linked with a return to the Saudi League, Abdul Hameed remained committed to professionalism in European stadiums and continued his career with Lens for 3 more seasons.

The Saudi Arabian full-back is preparing to take part with his country in the finals of the 2026 World Cup in America, Canada and Mexico, where Al-Akhdar has been drawn in the eighth group, which includes the teams of Spain, Uruguay and Cape Verde.
