The Shokz has upgraded its open-ear headphones with great sound and a lightweight design

Shokz has announced two new models of its open-back headphones. Like the original OpenDots One launched in May 2025The new Shokz OpenDots 2 and OpenDots Air are both designed to be worn behind your ear with their custom drivers to direct sound directly into your ear canals without blocking them. It’s a design that offers more comfort and a sense of the environment than wireless headphones, while these two new models meet specific needs.

The OpenDots Air is the entry-level model available in black or purple for $129.95 which is $70 cheaper than the original. They feature Shokz’ “next-generation surround sound system” called the Basssphere that uses 11.8mm drivers on each side with an “optimized diaphragm” to enhance bass, loudness and clarity. You can create EQs in the accompanying software, but there are also preset profiles including a sound-boosting mode for podcasts and audiobooks, as well as a secret mode that reduces high frequencies when you’re in a quiet environment.

Battery life is estimated to be up to nine hours of playtime which can be extended up to 36 hours with their charger. There is no ANC, but AI algorithms are used to help reduce background noise on phones. OpenDots Air also has ear-aware sensors so you can wear them on either side without knowing which earbud goes left or right. They will figure it out for themselves.

OpenDots Air is also the lightest of the two new models at 6.3 grams per head, but at 6.4 grams per bud. $199.95 OpenDots 2 it’s not too heavy and it offers a lot of functionality. Available in pearl white, gray, and black options, the OpenDots 2 features a dual-channel system like the Air but with Dolby Audio support. To further improve your voice quality on phone calls, an orthodontic microphone has been added to help transfer your voice over background noise that may make it difficult for others to hear you.

The battery life of the OpenDots 2 is 10 hours on their own or 40 with their charger which can be recharged with a Qi wireless charger. The two new Shokz offerings use Bluetooth 6.1, can connect to two devices at once for easy switching (like between your phone and laptop), and can be accessed using the Shokz mobile app, as long as you’re within Bluetooth range. OpenDots 2 expands their reach with support for Google’s Find Hub app, which will reveal their last location even when you’re not around.
