Argentine media reports have opened the door to a new derby in the Spanish capital after revealing Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid’s desire to sign Liverpool midfielder Alexis McAllister next season.
As reported by the Argentinian newspaper “Ole”, both clubs consider McAllister their priority, despite his current presence in the USA Kansas “Tango” team in preparation for the 2026 World Cup.
McAllister, who joined Liverpool from Brighton in the summer of 2023, has a contract with the Reds until 2028. He has become a key element in Arne Slott’s side as he made 37 Premier League appearances last season, scoring two goals and providing four assists.
The player’s market value is around €80m, making any potential deal very expensive, especially as Liverpool have no intention of letting go of one of their midfield pillars despite changes expected in the 2026-27 season.

Ole explained that Atletico Madrid are dealing with the case as an “obsession” for Diego Simeone, who sees McAllister as the ideal midfielder due to his multiple roles and ability to link lines, in addition to his great physicality and forays into the box.
As for Real Madrid, they are keeping a close eye on the situation in search of quality support for their midfield as they look to renew blood and maintain a balance between experience and youth.
