Soon, your friends in Microsoft Teams may not all be human. Scout, regular I have an assistant was announced on Microsoft Build developer conference On Tuesday, you can go through your work messages, calendar, and inbox to update tasks, update meeting schedules, and write clear responses.
Microsoft built businesses more or less on top of that OpenClawthe AI tool that disturbed the first people of San Francisco in the beginning of 2026. Scout was designed mainly to be an assistant to the workers, who could send commands directly to the Groups as if the assistant was a carbon worker.
Scout is part of a major, early-stage change from Microsoft to completely change the way employees know how to use it programs and embedding AI assistants in daily office operations. “Your company hires your agent,” says Omar Shahine, vice president of Microsoft Scout. “The main purpose of having a personal assistant is that they are working when you are not working.” So, while you’re eating some Doritos and gossiping next to the office vending machine, Scout is busy blocking out the calendar time for next Tuesday’s hands-on meeting and churning out interviews based on the latest news.
Microsoft is launching this feature with a small group of customers, with the hope of expanding its reach in the near future. In addition to the Teams integration, Microsoft is also testing the Scout desktop app. The program is available today for subscribers who have chosen “borderline” access, and it is currently required for users to be able to use it. GitHub Copilot registration.
When users tell Scout their goals and preferences, the bot can quickly assign tasks. For example, Shahine told Scout to always protect dinner time with the family, so whenever a meeting was offered on her calendar at that time, the assistant would mark it and tell you to change the options for your friends.

With access to your email and messages, the AI assistant can try tasks related to your work. Shahine asked Scout to go through all of her notes and make a regular list of all the times someone made a promise to her and every time she committed to someone else. Then, Scout can send you reminders about open tickets and make follow-up plans.
Anyone who tries Scout should expect a rough edge as Microsoft says about this agent. Shahine says her Scout, named Sebastian, sent an email the other day. “It was just one solid, shapeless sentence.” It is important that you find a balance between tasks that you are comfortable automating and those that require your direct supervision.
Shahine still sees Scout as a resource for all workers, especially those who are not professionals and would not be comfortable using a helper through Boarding. “Within us our sales organization is probably the largest and fastest growing group using this,” he says.
