Sabrina Carpenter has been granted a temporary restraining order against a man she says has been stalking her and trying to break into her California home.
Monday, a Los Angeles A district court issued an injunction barring William Applegate, 31, from living within 100 yards of the Hollywood Hills home he shares with his sister and the latter’s partner.
Carpenter wrote in his signed letter: “His behavior of evasion, violation of laws, and surveillance has caused me great concern.
“I’m afraid (of) what they will do if they are not allowed by this Court.”
Carpenter filed a restraining order on May 29, saying he approached her door on May 23 and tried to open it in a “very scary” incident. She says Applegate has been stalking her since at least April 20th.
Footage from the ring camera shows a man trying to open Carpenter’s door on May 23 and encountering a security guard. Court documents say the security guard ordered the man to leave but Applegate refused, saying the singer was waiting for him in what the documents describe as “disgusting and false”.
Applegate refused to leave the scene until police arrived, according to the detective. The officer wrote that the man “made disturbing and irrational feelings” about the pop star.
He was arrested on suspicion of trespassing. Carpenter said Applegate returned to the scene two days later.
It was later discovered that Applegate had been parking in the neighborhood since April 20 and had chosen a location near Carpenter’s residence.
“His fraudulent insistence that he knew me and that I expected him showed that I have a terrible, delusional and irrational problem,” Carpenter said in a statement.
He called the incident when Applegate tried to break into his home “one of the most disturbing incidents of personal safety and privacy I have ever experienced”.
“(Applegate’s) behavior, which may have begun on or about April 20, 2026, shows the hallmarks of a stable, ambitious individual,” said Detective Peter Doomanis of the Los Angeles the police.
“This method is related to the hacking practices that pose a serious risk (to) the safety of the victims.”
The next court hearing is scheduled for June 17, and a court hearing is scheduled for the following day for Applegate’s arraignment.
