Arsenal are looking to sign Argentine forward Julian Alvarez as the English club plan to open talks with Atletico Madrid in a bid for Sardi, who has always admired the Gunners, in a deal that could be worth up to €150m.
Spanish outlet AS have confirmed that Arsenal have decided to force their way into Alvarez, who wants to move to Barcelona, but Atletico Madrid are blocking that possibility with a firm stance of €500m (the release clause) or nothing.
Atletico are holding on to their star
Atletico Madrid have always maintained their official stance that the striker is part of next season’s squad and the club have criticized Barcelona for their handling of Alvarez over the past few months, given Barca’s repeated attempts to lure the player.
The club, managed by Enrique Cerezo, are refusing to let go of their Argentine star, who moved from Manchester City two seasons ago to become a mainstay for the Roi Blancos.
“Paris Saint-Germain” and “Arsenal” are the other two teams with which the player’s agent is negotiating in the final stage of this season.
Both clubs have the financial resources needed to complete a deal that could cost around €150 million, a sum that could convince Atlético to negotiate.
