Everton: Jack Grealish injury rate rises ahead of summer transfer window

Jack Grealish says his recovery from surgery on a leg injury is going extremely well and his surgeon is delighted with his progress.

The 30-year-old England midfielder, who is on loan at Everton, underwent surgery on a stress fracture 10 weeks ago.

He suffered the injury in a 1-0 win. In January with his former club Aston Villa

“I feel very good in myself now. I had a 10-week follow-up call with the surgeon, at this stage it doesn’t look any better,” he told BBC Sport.

“So for me it’s a happy day and it’s great to hear news like this.”

Grealish has made 22 appearances for Everton in all competitions this season, scoring twice and providing six assists.

“It’s always hard to be injured as a football player,” he said.

“I came to the Merseyside derby game and it was a bit emotional because I missed doing a lot.”

He has one year left on his contract at Manchester City. BBC Sport previously reported Everton are interested in signing him permanently if they can negotiate a £50m minimum price from City.

“I can’t thank[Everton]enough who have been with me since my injury – they’ve been brilliant. From the staff, the players to the manager,” he added.
