Barcelona are awaiting an official response from Atletico Madrid to their €100m bid for Argentine forward Julian Alvarez (26), while the Rojiblancos’ initial response was limited to mocking tweets that included pictures of famous players such as Lamine Yamal, Pedri and Rafinha as a joke.
Argentina’s Radio De Sports reports that Barcelona and Alvarez have already agreed a five-year contract, explaining that an agreement between the two clubs has yet to be decided, but that the deal could be worth between 120 and 125 million euros.
Alvarez will stay for years
Atlético Madrid’s first official response came from its president Enrique Cerezo yesterday, Monday, during an event when he announced: “Julian is an Atletico player and will remain so for many years to come, with a clear message to give up the team’s star player.

While Alvarez awaits news on his future, he is now in Kansas with his national team to begin preparations for the 2026 World Cup.
Argentina will play two friendlies before their official debut, first against Honduras next Friday and Iceland the day after.
