The Cleveland Browns have agreed to a deal to send two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams.
The trade is pending Garrett’s physical and saw the Browns receive a 2027 first-round pick and pass rusher Jared Verse in exchange.
Garrett – who broke the NFL record for single-season sacks with 23 in his last campaign – previously issued a trade request but ended speculation when he signed a four-year, $160m (£118m) extension in 2025 with more than $122m (£90m) guaranteed.
However, the Browns finished the season 5–12 and dropped to their second NFC North fourth-place finish, meaning the franchise missed the playoffs in seven of Garrett’s nine seasons.
The defensive end reignited trade speculation when he missed the Browns’ voluntary offseason training program and did not meet with new head coach Todd Monken after replacing Kevin Stefanski earlier this year.
The Browns agreed a restructured contract with Garrett that defers $29m (£21m) in bonus payments until September, giving Cleveland salary cap space to trade the pass-rusher – although they will still take a combined $40m (£29m) hit over the next two years from Garrett’s contract.
Garrett’s long nine-year tenure since being drafted No. 1 by the Browns in 2017 ends. He’ll join a Rams team that was one game away from the Super Bowl last season and boasted a Super Bowl title and an astounding 10 playoff wins under head coach Sean McVay.
The Los Angeles team will undoubtedly be boosted by the addition of one of the best defensive players in the NFL.
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown has been traded to the New England Patriots for a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick, ending an illustrious but troubled tenure with the Super Bowl LIX champions.
Brown finished his tenure with the Eagles with over 5,000 receiving yards and a Super Bowl ring, making history as the only Eagles player to reach 1,000 receiving yards in four consecutive seasons, though his final two camps went under a cloud of controversy after numerous off-field issues.
Brown was heavily criticized for telling fans in a Twitch stream that they should “get rid” of him from NFL fantasy teams — highlighting his displeasure with his role on the team — for physicalizing Eagles safety guard Dom DeSandro on a speed off play during a heated Jan. 4 game against wide receivers and his head coach Nick Syriani had to be separated.
Eagles GM Howie Roseman is trading up for highly touted wide receiver Makai Lemon in the first round of this year’s draft to seal Brown’s fate – but they saved $7m (£5.2m) in cap space by waiting until June 1 to make the trade.
The Patriots, however, have secured another weapon for young quarterback Drake May as they look to shake off their AFC Championship loss and go one better in this Super Bowl campaign.
Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has been signed by his former team, the New York Giants — in a remarkable move that ensures the former Pro-Bowler’s long-awaited return to the NFL after a one-season absence.
Beckham made his name with the Giants after being selected 12th overall in the 2014 draft, then racked up three consecutive 1300+ yard seasons to cement his name as one of the league’s premier wide receivers.
Also famous for recording one of the NFL’s most iconic moments in an American Giants jersey, when he recorded a 43-yard touchdown reception against the Dallas Cowboys that is widely considered the greatest catch in NFL history.
His recent NFL history has been controversial, however. Beckham was suspended for six games in 2025 for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy, and remained unsigned throughout the season — he managed just nine catches for 55 yards in nine games for the Miami Dolphins during the previous campaign.
The wide receiver, however, appears to have a happy ending as he returns to the team that drafted him, once again joining forces with head coach John Harbaugh, who coached Beckham to 35 catches and 565 yards with the Baltimore Ravens in the 2023 season.
