Attractive offer
Spanish manager Pep Guardiola has rejected a tempting offer from co-owner David Beckham to take over at Inter Miami, remaining committed to his next move after leaving Manchester City.
According to the British “Mirror” newspaper, Beckham topped Guardiola’s list of candidates to replace Javier Mascherano, who resigned from his position last month.
Following Mascherano’s departure, Beckham and the club have refrained from appointing a replacement after opting to wait to see if Guardiola can be persuaded to move to the United States.
Beckham believes that convincing Guardiola to join his club would be an exceptional deal for both Inter Miami and the US Soccer League in general.
The move would also give the Spanish coach another opportunity to work with Lionel Messi, who played under him at Barcelona, and would also provide a huge boost to Inter Miami’s marketing value.
But Guardiola made it clear that there was no point in Beckham’s attempts to convince him to immediately return to the world of training.
Guardiola stepped down as Manchester City manager at the end of the seasonAfter a decade of dominance and success at the Etihad Stadium.
The Spanish coach insists on taking a break from football to spend time with his family and loved ones and restore his energy.
Inter Miami chiefs have been looking forward to the chance to speak face-to-face with Guardiola at the World Cup, but reports suggest the Spanish coach has no plans to leave for the tournament in the summer.
Guardiola told his close friends that he would prefer his next training stop to be in one of the national teams.
