Tom Aspinall: Eddie Hearn has called on UFC president Dana White to quit the fighter

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has called on UFC president Dana White to release Tom Aspinal from his contract, saying the heavyweight champion is not being paid his due.

Manchester-based Aspinall, 33, Hearn has signed a “commercial and consulting” deal with his new talent agency In March

Aspinall has been a standout performer in the UFC’s heavyweight division in recent years, with seven of his eight wins ending in the first round.

Harron is prepared to offer Aspinal a higher salary if the UFC allows him to leave, as tensions between him and White continue to grow, although it is unclear whether it will be in boxing or MMA.

Matchroom chairman Hearn is also willing to drop planned legal action over Conor Bener White’s decision to leave his stable for White’s Zuffa Boxing promotions if Aspinall leaves.

Hearn, 46, previously described 29-year-old Ben’s departure as a “Dagger in the Heart”.

“If they release Tom Aspinall I’ll walk away from all their problems, if they deal with the Connor Benn legal situation,” Hearn said.

“And I’ll say in writing, he’ll make five or six times more money, but I’ll say in writing that Tom Aspinall will make at least three times more than he does under his current contract.”

Aspinall remains under contract with the UFC and is one of its biggest stars.

Hearn has previously criticized the UFC’s pay structure and suggested that top fighters could earn substantially more elsewhere.

There is no indication that the UFC will consider releasing Aspinal, but Hearn’s comments have fueled the debate about fighter pay in mixed martial arts (MMA).

“I would like to suggest that Dana White should be happy for Tom Aspinall, who is very unhappy, and release him from his obligations with the UFC,” Hearn added.

“And he should let her go out and do more than enough for herself and her family because isn’t that what Dana White is all about? She’d be happy for Tom. So that’s what I want.”

Aspinall has been dealing with eye problems Since his title fight with Cyril Gann last October had to be stopped due to repeated eye pokes.

He underwent double eye surgery in February and it is still unclear when he will be able to return to acting.

Hearn has been publicly feuding with UFC President White since the launch of Zuffa Boxing.

Aspinall became part of that war of words at Hearn’s suggestion White “insulted” him Not supporting the warrior after the eye controversy.
