Slot: I left Liverpool where they deserve to be… and this is my message to the fans

Dutchman Arne Slott has sent an emotional farewell message to Liverpool fans, officially announcing his departure as the team’s technical director, stressing that winning the English Premier League title will remain one of the most important milestones of his coaching career.

Slott published an open letter on Liverpool’s official website in which he recalled his most important moments with the club since arriving at Anfield, thanking the club’s fans, players and staff.

The Dutch coach said. “When you walk into the Anfield tunnel under the famous flag, you feel a mixture of responsibility, expectation and determination to compete and win, and for those feelings to end with the Premier League title after just 12 months was exceptional.”

“The title was not just a championship, but rather a reward for the hard work, sacrifice and commitment of everyone at the club, and it was even more valuable because the fans lived those moments with us.”

Slott reflected on the historic celebrations that followed last season’s league title, praising the overwhelming public support. He also remembered with sadness the difficult moments experienced by the club after the death of the Portuguese Diogo Jota.

He said: “There are no words to describe the loss of Diogo. I want to remember a colleague, a friend and a wonderful man who touched the lives of thousands of Liverpool fans and how the fans honored his memory will stay with me forever.

The Dutch coach wanted to thank the players, club staff and management, stressing that Liverpool’s 20th league title is an achievement that belongs to everyone.

He explained. “This club will always measure itself against the biggest trophies, but I leave knowing that Liverpool is where it deserves to be among the elite of European clubs.”

“Change is part of football, but I know this club will continue to make its fans proud. When I first stood under that flag in the Anfield tunnel, I knew what this club wanted and I leave now knowing that we have never stopped striving for it.”

Liverpool announced on Saturday that Sloat would be stepping down after just two seasons at the club.

Liverpool are expected to begin a new era under a different technical management, as reports suggest that Spain’s Andoni Iraola, the Bournemouth manager, is the most popular candidate to succeed Slott in coaching the Reds.
