Apple Watch Series 11 for $399: If you have an Apple Watch Series 4 or later, you can use it to track your sleep. Between the heart rate sensor and the accelerometer, your Apple Watch you can disrupt your sleep in four stages. Newer models can also measure blood pressure and temperature. It feels a lot more compact compared to other sleep trackers I’ve tried, and there’s no sleep feature, although this is apparently designed for it (it’s doubtful if you need more).
Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2) for $1,000: Everything Garmin fitness trackers track sleep to some extent, but the Epix Pro has what Garmin calls advanced sleep monitoring, or the ability to track sleep stages, your blood oxygen levels, your breathing, and restlessness. Helper Adrienne Pa he found that the Epix Pro consistently got him to sleep half an hour to an hour longer than he usually sleeps on most nights, double-checked by Whoop and Oura. It also does not add sleep to your sleep cycle.

Google Nest Hub Max for $229: The Nest Hub Max uses radar to track your sleep, which means you don’t have to wear a tracker; it also has a microphone for recording, sleep talking, and other night sounds. I love the Nest Hub on my nightstand for smart home controls, family photos, and listening to sleep sounds or podcasts in bed, but sleep tracking only adds to my REM sessions and misses the wake time that other trackers have recorded. When I used multiple trackers at the same time, the Nest Hub was an outlier. The Second-generation Nest Hub ($100) offers similar sleep tracking information if you want something cheaper. –Simon Hill
Muse S Athena Headband for $475: This headset has sensors that can monitor your brain activity, such as an electroencephalogram (EEG), along with an accelerometer and gyroscope, and a PPG sensor to measure heart rate and blood circulation. It’s a meditation aid designed to help you relax, but it can also monitor your sleep by recording your heart rate, breathing, sleep time, and how much you moved to sleep. Sadly, I found it uncomfortable to wear and often wake up to find that sleep tracking has not gone well, usually because I’ve taken it off at night. –Simon Hill
Withings ScanWatch 2 $370: Wear the Withings ScanWatch 2 to bed and you’ll get 100% more sleep in the morning. It has the same four levels as other trackers (awake, REM, brightness, and depth) but boasts a PPG sensor to measure your breathing. It can also monitor your heart rate, temperature, and blood oxygen levels. ScanWatch 2 provides information and advice in the Withings app. Some people find it difficult and uncomfortable to fall asleep, however, and it was difficult to tell the difference between a light sleep and when I was lying in bed. –Simon Hill

Withings Sleep Tracking Mat for $200: Another alternative to changing clothes, this sensor-equipped mattress pad from Withings lowers under your mattress where your chest rests. You’ll need to adjust it during the first installation, but it’s quick and easy. It tracks your movement, breathing, and heart rate throughout the night, detects wheezing or other sounds, and alerts you to breathing problems that could indicate a seizure. I question its accuracy because it depends on whether you’re trying to fall asleep watching TV or reading, and that can affect your score (although it’s best to just use your bed for sleep if you’re a sleeper). I felt that he often wakes up like a light sleep. It requires a power outlet, but it means you don’t have to worry about charging). –Simon Hill
Sleep Time: Tracker & Alarm for $60/year (iOS/Android): Sleep Track is a sleep tracking app that reports every night, dividing your sleep into several stages. Assessor Simon Hill he says the results were accurate and closely related to Ultrahuman Ring Airbut the program can be complicated. There were many times when he received the wrong message in the morning with no report or short sleep. There was no indication as to why it failed. You can try the Sleep Method for a week before signing up.
