Social media footage showed glass doors outside a shopping center in southern China’s Nanning breaking on Sunday as fans waited to catch a glimpse of actor Zhang Lingyi.
The 28-year-old was due to appear at the Mulshan Eyewear event, starring in the Chinese historical drama The Chase of Jade.
Other social media videos show people huddled around balconies in the mall. Organizers later canceled the in-person event and took it online.
“First of all, the brand event scheduled for today has been temporarily rescheduled, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused,” Lynge Studios said in a statement Sunday night.
“Everyone’s safety is always our top priority.”
He added that the actor and the studio will pay for travel and accommodation expenses for fans who travel from far away to attend the event.
Molson said medical tests had been arranged for “fans with minor injuries” and said he would improve security measures to ensure “smoother and safer” events in the future.
