New development between Liverpool and Iraola after Milan move

Liverpool are set to open formal talks this week with Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola to take charge of the Reds following the departure of Arne Slott.

“Mundo Deportivo” newspaper, referring to BBC, reports that “Liverpool” strives to solve the issue of a new coach as soon as possible, and Iraola is considered the preferred choice of the English team.

According to the same report, Liverpool have already made a preliminary move to contact Iraola before deciding to open formal talks in the next few days.

Sources also say AC Milan have made contact this week with Iraola, who has become one of the biggest names in the coaching market following his outstanding stint with Bournemouth.

Bayer Leverkusen have also shown a strong interest in the Spanish coach, but all indications are that he is most attracted to the Liverpool project.

Iraola is considered the most popular candidate to take charge of Liverpool, not only because of his outstanding work at Bournemouth, but also because of his strong relationship with the Reds’ sporting director Richard Hughes.

Richard Hughes, during his previous spell at Bournemouth as technical director, was the one who oversaw Iraola’s signing.
