Moroccan Jamal Salami, Jordan’s national team coach, confirmed that not fully following the directives of the technical staff was one of the reasons that contributed to the difficulty of Al-Nashama’s task in their 4-1 defeat to Switzerland as part of the final preparations for the 2026 World Cup.
Salami’s comments came after a moment that caught the eye in the first half when star player Moussa Al-Taamari took the initiative to ask his teammates to come forward and pressure the Swiss goalkeeper for one of the goals in a fielding move that was not part of the coaching staff’s technical plan.
Things didn’t go the way the Jordanian wanted as the Swiss team managed to exploit the Jordanian forwards’ wide spaces to launch a quick and organized attack that ended with the second goal after a series of lightning passes that confused the Jordanian defense.
Answering the question about that shot, Salami emphasized that respecting the technical instructions is one of the most important foundations of success in modern football, stressing that any deviation from the set plan can have direct consequences on the field, which actually happened during the match.
The Moroccan coach added that the technical staff will work on eliminating the mistakes that appeared against Switzerland in the coming days, noting that the remaining period before the start of the World Cup is an important opportunity to transform some tactical aspects and increase the degree of harmony within the team.
Jordan is preparing for a historic challenge at the 2026 World Cup as it has been drawn in Group Ten alongside Argentina, Algeria and Austria.
