A quiet farewell that hides an exceptional journey
Saudi club NEOM has officially announced the end of its contract with Egyptian veteran defender Ahmed Hegazi after a two-season career with the club.
Hegazi joined NEOM in the summer of 2024 on a two-season deal from Saudi club Al-Ittihad, becoming one of the most prominent elements of the squad on their way to promotion to the Saudi Roche professional league.
NEOM Club has released a special video on its official page on the X platform saying goodbye to the Egyptian defender, announcing the official end of his contract after the two sides failed to agree on a contract extension.
The club accompanied the video with a touching message, which says: “Beautiful chapters have been written. Thank you, Ahmed Hegazi, for every moment and memory,” referring to the important role the player played during his time with the team.

During the 2025–2026 season, Hegazi played 29 matches with NEOM in various competitions with 2,503 playing minutes, split between the Saudi League and the Guardian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup, and he managed to score one goal.
During the two seasons he spent in the team, the Egyptian defender played 52 official matches for NEOM, during which he became the author of one goal and one assist. He also helped the team win the Saudi Arabia First Division Yellow League title in the 2024–2025 season, which led to their promotion to the professional league.
Hegazi’s journey at the Saudi stadiums began with Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2020, when he joined the team on a season-long loan from English side West Bromwich Albion, before Al-Jedawi were able to buy his contract permanently the following summer.
