UEFA select the Georgian star following his pivotal role in his St Germain career
“Paris Saint-Germain” star, Georgian Khvicha Kvaratsikhelia won the award for the best player of the Champions League 2025-2026 season.
The European Football Association (UEFA) announced on its official website that Kvaratskhelia received the award after playing a key role in PSG’s march to glory.
“Paris Saint-Germain” won the Champions League trophy for the second time in a rowAfter beating Arsenal on penalties yesterday (Saturday) and drawing 1-1 after extra time.
The Georgian winger played a major role in Paris’ continental title triumph, scoring 10 goals and providing 6 assists throughout the tournament.
He also won a penalty in the final against Arsenal, which Ousmane Dembele converted into a goal for the French team.
Perhaps Kvaratskhelia’s best performance came in the memorable first leg of the semi-final, which ended in a 5-4 victory over Bayern Munich, where he scored a stunning goal to level the score at 1-1, before adding a second in the second half with a powerful strike to complete an impressive double.
In another context, Real Madrid midfielder Arda Guler has been selected as the best emerging player of this season’s Champions League by UEFA’s technical panel of observers.
This new award aims to recognize young players who are having a great season in the Champions League, and the 21-year-old has taken a quantum leap in the 2025/26 season.
Last season Guler started just one game out of seven matches, but this season he has started 13 matches for a total of 14 matches.
Furthermore, his playing minutes have increased from 142 minutes in the 2024/25 season to 1030 minutes last season.
UEFA created this award to replace the Young Player of the Season award, with the aim of recognizing individuals who make impressive progress in a given season.
As for Arda Guler, he put in a superb performance in Real’s League Cup win over Juventus in October and won the Man of the Match award that night for his control and creativity in his side’s midfield.
In addition to his first two goals in the Champions League, the Turkish international finished the season with four assists, both of which came in the second leg of the quarter-final between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, which ended in Bayern’s favor (4-3).
