United Airlines is forced to turn around because of the name of the Bluetooth speaker

United flight 236 from Newark to Palma de Mallorca on Saturday night was forced to do so turn around an hour after departure because security concerns around the Bluetooth signal. One Redditor reported that the pilot was saying, “This little joke is ruining everyone.”

A recording from Air Traffic Control (below) confirms that the source of the problem was the name of the available Bluetooth speaker.

“There’s a security issue out there. Someone had a Bluetooth speaker, and they called it some four-letter name. So they have to search the entire plane, including the cargo area, and the passengers have to evacuate.”

Even photography doesn’t make it clear thinking that the requested Bluetooth name was “bomb,” would make sense when we consider the response of the workers and security personnel on the ground. Smart WiFi or Bluetooth name maybe not.
