The World Health Organization (WHO) has praised the recovery of five people with undiagnosed Ebola. vaccine or treatment, during the recent outbreak of the virus in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

Ghebreyesus said this at the opening of a new Ebola treatment center in Bunia, eastern Congo, capital of Ituri region.
“Four people have been released today, and there is one who was released yesterday,” he said.
The latest outbreak is the 17th in DRC. According to the WHO, the type, known as Bundibugyo, kills 50 percent of people infected with the virus.
On Saturday, the medical aid organization Doctors Without Borders, better known by its French name MSF, described the situation as “extremely dangerous”, warning that the epidemic had spread faster than any Ebola outbreak.
In his statement, Alan Gonzalez, MSF’s deputy director of operations, said the severity of the disease is difficult to diagnose due to limited testing.
“The Ebola epidemic has never had so many people so soon after it was announced,” Gonzalez said.
“Like everyone in the affected areas, MSF teams are seeing a response that has not started the rapid spread of the epidemic,” he said.
“Unlike most Ebola outbreaks in the past, this one involves the Bundibugyo virus, for which there is no approved vaccine or specific treatment, which is difficult to diagnose because of the lack of testing.”
The WHO said the latest figures show more than 220 suspected deaths and nearly 1,000 suspected cases. Uganda, which shares a border with the DRC for hundreds of kilometers, has reported one death and nine cases.
