The Saratov oil refinery has been hit as Ukrainian protests escalate into parts of Russia, damaging civilian infrastructure.

Ukrainian drones have used power and industrial targets in several Russian regions, Russian government officials have said, in a growing campaign to fight for infrastructure freedom.
In Saratov, a region on the Volga River that is home to several oil refineries that have come under frequent attacks in Ukraine in recent years, Governor Roman Busargin said Sunday on Telegram that “structures” had been damaged in overnight attacks.

Ukraine’s military confirmed it struck the Saratov oil refinery overnight, but denied Russian accusations it had hit the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant in Russian-controlled territory.
In the Kirov region, northeast of Moscow and about 1,300km (800 miles) from Ukraine, Governor Alexander Sokolov said drones had struck a location in Urzhumsky district. The Ukrainian military confirmed the attack, saying it also hit the Lazarevo oil pumping station in the region.
Governors in Rostov, Voronezh and Belgorod regions, all bordering Ukraine, also reported strikes, and three civilians were injured in Belgorod.
On Ukraine’s Russian-controlled Crimean Peninsula, Moscow-backed Governor Sergei Aksyonov said authorities were imposing restrictions on the sale of gasoline.
He did not say why, but Ukraine has been attacking oil facilities in southwestern Russia near Crimea for months.
Separately on Sunday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine had received a new Iris-T missile from Germany as he requested more air defense equipment from Kyiv’s allies.
“We also need anti-aircraft missiles to have sufficient capability to repel Russia,” Zelenskyy said on the Telegraph.
