“I will not apologize for my ex-husband’s crime.”

Former Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has spoken to the BBC in her first interview since her husband Peter Murrell pleaded guilty to embezzling £400,000 from the SNP.

Speaking to Laura Queensberg, Sturgeon said: “I am not responsible for my ex-husband’s crimes and I will not apologize for anyone else’s crimes.”

“She felt like she was passing a sentence for a crime I didn’t commit.”

On Monday, former SNP chief executive Murrell admitted using party funds to buy items including luxury goods, jewellery, cosmetics, two cars and a motor home. Sturgeon has consistently denied any knowledge of Murrell’s crimes.
