Russian Dmitry Bivol returned from a 15-month layoff with a dominant display to defend his unified light-heavyweight crown in his home country against Michael Eifert.
With the IBF and WBA world titles on the line, all three judges scored the 35-year-old Bivol 118-107.
It was Bivol’s first win since February 2025 when he got revenge on Artur Beterbiev – the only fighter to beat him – before undergoing surgery six months later.
Bival, who has wins over Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Gilberto Ramirez, knocked out Germany’s Eifert with a heavy left hook in the first round.
Eifert was able to beat the count and reach the belt at the end of the 12th round but was unable to trouble one of the pound-for-pound greats.
With a win, a trilogy fight with compatriot Beterbiev could be on the horizon for Bivol, while WBA (super) and WBO cruiserweight champion David Benavidez, who recently moved up from light-heavyweight, is talking up the possibility of facing the Russian.
