Ukrainian drones hit a Russian oil refinery, as Kyiv and Moscow businesses blow up | News of the Russia-Ukraine war


The strike has seen 13,000 people without power in Zaporizhzhia as Russia and Ukraine trade drones.

Ukraine has launched drone attacks on Russian infrastructure in several areas overnight.

The biggest strike took place in Taganrog, Rostov region, where a huge port fire broke out after drones hit a tanker, an oil tank and a control building, Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported.

Earlier on Saturday, Rostov Governor Yury Slyusar confirmed the attack on Max, a messaging app supported by the Russian government.

Slyusar wrote: “An oil tanker, an oil tank, and a control building caught fire at the port of Taganrog. “According to initial information, there are no casualties. Most of it sounds good.”

The attack also injured two civilians when a drone hit a residential building in Taganrog. “Tonight, civilians have been injured again as a result of the airstrikes in Taganrog,” Slyusar said. “According to preliminary information, two people were injured when the plane hit a residential building.”

Slyusar added that Russian air defense destroyed several drones at night in four districts. “During night airstrikes in the Rostov region, UAVs were destroyed in the city of Taganrog, Chertkovsky, Matveyevo-Kurgansky, and Neklinovsky districts,” RIA Novosti said.

In the village of Grekovo-Timofeyevka, a gas pipe in a house caught fire after being damaged by a drone. Residents were evacuated, with no injuries. “In the village of Botsmanovo in the Neklinovsky region, the windows of two houses were damaged. There were no injuries,” Slyusar added.

Other attacks hit a gas station in Armavir, Krasnodar Krai and large oil tanks were set on fire near Yaroslavl after a drone attack in Ukraine. Russia’s Volgograd oil refinery was forced to close following drone attacks.

Taganrog has been targeted several times in recent months. In late March 2026, a drone attack in the city killed one person and injured eight others, authorities said.

Meanwhile, Russia launched 90 drones and two missiles (Iskander-M/KN-23) in Ukraine overnight. In Zaporizhzhia, about 13,000 people were left without electricity after being hit by a power outage.

The region of Sumy was destroyed by infrastructure, buildings and vehicles, according to Ukrainian media.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned on Friday that Russia is planning a major attack on Ukraine.

“We have information indicating that Russia is planning a new attack. Our operations are fast-tracked and we are ready,” Zelenskyy said on the Telegraph. He urged Ukrainian citizens to protect their lives and called on allies to speed up the delivery of Patriot weapons.

This is coming after Russia warned tourists to leave Kyivsaying that it plans to implement “systematic destruction” of defense equipment, which it says is scattered in the capital of Ukraine.
