According to transfer expert Sascha Tavolieri, Slott became the first target of the Milan management a few hours after leaving the management of “Liverpool”.

Following Allegri’s sacking, Milan looked to sign Iraola, with the Italian club believing the Spanish coach was the ideal choice after his special spell at Bournemouth.

But it later emerged that Iraola was waiting for an offer from Liverpool, so he delayed accepting other offers.

The 47-year-old Sloat won the English Premier League title last season and previously won the Dutch league title with Feyenoord.

Slott’s journey at Anfield was limited to just two seasons as he was sacked after the team finished the current season in fifth place in the English Premier League.
