What the King and Queen did on their second day in America


King Charles III and Queen Camilla continued their tour by meeting members of President Trump’s cabinet in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday before addressing both houses of Congress to mark America’s 250th anniversary.

The day ended with a state dinner at the White House, where Trump praised the UK’s ‘richest heritage that one nation can give to another’, while Charles presented the President with a bell from the WW2 submarine HMS Trump.

In the year It is the monarch’s first US visit since Queen Elizabeth II met President George W. Bush in 2007.

The King and Queen will travel to New York City tomorrow to attend a memorial service for the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks.
