In the latest episode of Weekend Winners, the panel reunites to preview the French derby from Chantilly.

“It looks a warm classic and a great heat on paper. Coolmore suffered a blow by drawing so I’m leaving them (Constitution River, Hawk Mountain and Montreal) alone. I’m siding with the Andre Fabre-trained runner. Komorebi, who had an absolute shout in the French 2000 Guineas. The rain destroyed the soil – which didn’t help him – so it would be appropriate to return to better soil.
“The big question mark is whether he will stay. By Pinatubo, who has had plenty of 10-furlong winners, I expect the pace to be killer, especially on this sensationally fast ground. If he keeps his stamina, he’s a great value in this field.”

“I like French-trained runners Dolmalan, Whom we saw win his trial the other day. You can get a decent price on a horse right now. I spoke with his trainer Mikael Dezangles Sky Sports Racing week and he was very positive about his prospects.
“He mentioned the possibility of being in Arc after the season so there’s a chance he thinks he’s top class. Regular jockey Mikel Barzalona has dropped him which could be a concern, but I believe he’s seriously underrated here – especially at stall six.”

“The horse I’d play in every direction is Montrealwho ran at Chantilly instead of Epsom. Wayne Lordan takes the ride, and he’s got ‘the bounce of the ball’ – having already won two Guineas races. He can get an easy lead on the front end and has the stamina to push.
“I wouldn’t be really shocked if he overcame his odds with him testing the stamina of his other rivals and although he’s less imaginative than the Aidan O’Brien runners, he could run a massive race.”
