Portugal coach Jorge Jesus has confirmed that he has not decided on his coaching direction for the 2026-2027 season, stressing that he is carefully studying the offers he has received recently without rushing after a successful season in which he led his side to the Saudi League title.
The Portuguese press have reported that Jesus has become one of the most sought-after coaches in the market, given his many options among major clubs and national teams amid growing interest in his services.
The Record newspaper quoted the coach as saying he would not accept any project that did not have the ingredients to compete for a championship, stressing that ambition was still his number one driver despite his long career.
Jesus explained that he will give himself some time off in the coming weeks, some of which he will spend visiting his friends in Rio de Janeiro, before returning to study the offers and choose the most suitable challenge.
The 71-year-old coach has ruled out a return to Benfica for now, despite describing his time at the club as the most important in his career as he is the most decorated manager in history.
Jesus expressed clear reservations about Brazil, noting that he only saw himself there in two situations: coaching Flamengo or managing the Brazilian national team, revealing that he had previously turned down an offer from the Seleção due to ties to another project.
Jesus, on the other hand, has left the door open for a return to Turkish side Fenerbahce, given that his experience there was incomplete after winning the league title, making a return a possible option.

Reports in Portugal indicate that Jesus’ name is being strongly discussed in the corridors of the Portuguese Football Federation to succeed Roberto Martinez to lead the national team after the 2026 World Cup finals, should a change be made at the head of the technical staff.
