The former United player is annoyed by the many questions about his team-mate
Brazil’s star midfielder Casemiro expressed his frustration at the press conference with the many questions from reporters about his partner Neymar, noting that the “Santos” player is only one of the 26 players of Brazil’s national team, preparing for the 2026 World Cup.
Neymar has received a lot of media attention over the past few months due to doubts about his inclusion in Brazil’s squad for the tournament due to his declining fitness.
After being called up, Neymar suffered an injury and the player’s name came back to the fore as it was not certain that he would continue on the roster due to reports that he would need around 3 weeks to return.
For his part, Casemiro revealed his displeasure with too much focus on Neymar at the expense of the team as a whole, following questions directed at the former Saudi Al Hilal star.
“Once again we come here and we always have to talk about Neymar, Neymar, Neymar,” Casemiro told reporters, as highlighted by French network RMC.
He added: “I think Neymar is a player like any other player in the group, an important player in 26 players. Everyone is important, and that’s it.”
Despite this, Casemiro had earlier called for Neymar to return to the squad after describing him as “indispensable” following Brazil’s 2-1 friendly defeat to France on March 26.
Neymar currently has a calf muscle injury and will be out for “two or three weeks”, according to Brazil’s team doctor who spoke on Thursday, which could prevent him from playing in Brazil’s World Cup opener against Morocco on June 14.
