An eternal connection between the two parties
It looks like Real Madrid’s relationship with Luka Modric is not over, after a report revealed a clear desire within the Royals to bring the legend back.
According to Spanish newspaper AS, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez promised Modric during his final farewell party at the Santiago Bernabeu last year that Real Madrid’s doors would always be open to him, while giving him the freedom to choose the role he wants to occupy at the club after his retirement.
Modric is now living his final days as a professional player, especially after a difficult season with AC Milan that ended in great disappointment after the Italian side failed to qualify for the Champions League.
Despite this, the paper praised the Croatian star’s performance for the Rossoneri, stressing that he played a vital role in the team’s push for a Champions League place until the last round, before his injury affected the team’s path in the crucial weeks.
Modric participated in 35 matches for Milan during the season, during which he scored two goals and scored three goals. He also managed to quickly gain the respect of the Italian club’s fans thanks to his leadership personality both on and off the pitch.
The report adds that the player, who will turn 41 next September, now believes the end of his career is closer than ever, especially after he has achieved all that could be achieved in an exceptional journey spanning many years in European stadiums.
AS also noted that Modric has left a special human mark at Milan, after he gave the club’s management his own Ballon d’Or, which he won with Real Madrid in 2018, to be displayed in the Rossoneri museum.
As the career draws to a close, Real Madrid appear to be already preparing for a new chapter in the club’s relationship with one of the greatest midfielders in its history, pending the Croatian star’s final decision on his future after the World Cup.
