Nate Syver-Brant: England captain’s recovery ‘going to plan’ but he is yet to bowl after injury

Cyver-Brant is crucial to England’s home World Cup hopes – for his playmaking ability, leadership and the balance he brings to the team as an all-rounder.

England have always maintained that they are not worried and are just taking a cautious approach to his recovery. They still expect him to play a full role in the World Cup.

Sciver-Brunt suffered what he described as a “small tear” while playing for the Blaze on 29 April and was initially ruled out of the three one-day internationals against New Zealand.

A further scan on 18 May ruled him out of the T20Is against the White Ferns and India as he was deemed to need a “long period of rehabilitation”.

After the India series ends on Tuesday, England prepares to face Australia and India on June 8 and 10 respectively.

“All the plans we put together to get me back on track are ending with the first game in mind,” Syver-Brant said.

“We got a few warm-up games beforehand to practice my skills.

“It’s going to plan so far.”
