2026 French Open results: Jannik Sinner injured in second-round loss to Juan Manuel Cerundolo

Jannik Sinner has been ruled out of the French Open after struggling with injury in his second-round loss to Juan Manuel Cerundolo in five sets.

The world number one sinner has been the most popular men’s title since the great Rafael Nadal in 2009, and in recent weeks no one has been able to challenge him on clay.

Ciner was bidding to complete the Grand Slam at Roland Garros, and few expected him to fall short – but just as Nadal suffered an early exit 17 years ago, the Italian must now look forward to another chance at Paris glory.

Sinner was two sets and 5-1 ahead with an impressive momentum shift as fitness issues plagued the match.

The 24-year-old took to the court in agony after winning 11 consecutive points in the next three games before calling his coach.

Sinner is heard saying he feels “dizzy” and “likes to pass out” and took a mid-game medical timeout before returning to the court.

After dropping the third set, Sinner was unable to regain his composure as he defeated the Argentine world number 56 3-6 2-6 7-5 6-1 6-1.
