A jailed teenage rapist has told the BBC she wants “freedom” from fear. She and her parents spoke to BBC Newsnight presenter Victoria Derbyshire on condition of anonymity.

“It’s just to be able to go for a walk without fearing that I’m going to find them,” the girl said of her attackers, whose sentences must be reviewed.

Her father said the men who dared should be jailed because the attack would have a “lifelong impact” on his daughter.

Two boys aged 14 at the time were charged with rape and the third, who was 13 years old, was found guilty of aiding and abetting the attack. After an outcry when he was given a youth rehabilitation order, his sentence is being appealed to the Court of Appeal.
