IPL 2026: Vaibhav Suryavanshi impresses again by getting rid of 97

The young sensation Vaibhav Soryavanshi played his latest impressive innings in the Indian Premier League against Sunrisers Hyderabad, hitting 97 off 29 balls.

The 15-year-old hit 12 sixes, including three with Australia captain Pat Cummins, before being dismissed in the eighth over.

After hitting boundaries in seven consecutive balls, he got one delivery to break Chris Gayle’s record of fastest IPL century.

Soryavanshi, who reached 50 in 16 balls, seemed to have fallen in the middle, but he was warmly welcomed by the crowd who congratulated him.

His Rajasthan Royals side were 125-1 in eight overs, at the other end with 25 off 20 balls from opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal, India’s international format.

“What an innings. What a player,” commented India legend Sunil Gavaskar.

“That’s an innings to remember. An innings to savor.”

Suryavanshi’s knock also took him to the top of the list of run scorers in this year’s IPL.

His seventh six, hitting only his fourth, broke the record for most sixes in a single IPL season – a record previously held by former West Indies international Gayle with 59.
