Let’s go to the World Cup… Saud Abdul Hameed tweets after solving his emergency crisis

Saud Abdel Hamid, the full-back of the French team Lens and the Saudi Arabian national team, managed to solve his passport problem weeks before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Abdul Hamid was late to join the Green camp The event takes place in the capital city of Riyadh in preparation for traveling to the United States of America for the World Cup.

The World Cup draw, which is due to start next June 11, has drawn Saudi Arabia in Group H alongside Spain, Uruguay and Cape Verde.

The Saudi Arabian Football Federation issued an official statement last Monday explaining that the player was unable to make it to the capital Riyadh to join the final phase of the preparatory program after his private car was stolen in the Dutch capital Amsterdam while he was on holiday with his family.

The statement said the incident resulted in the loss of a number of the player’s personal belongings, including his passport, which disrupted his travel procedures in the final hours.

The Saudi Arabian Federation has confirmed that it is pursuing the case by coordinating with the Ministry of Sports and the relevant authorities, in addition to communicating with the embassy of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in the Netherlands, to obtain the necessary documents for the player and secure the mission as soon as possible.

These efforts led to a new passport and visa for Saud Abdul Hamid with the help of officials from the Saudi Embassy in the Netherlands and the Saudi Arabian Football Association, prompting the player to thank the various parties who contributed to the resolution.

Saud Abdul Hamid wrote on his official page of “X”. “I express my thanks and gratitude to the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Netherlands and the Saudi Football Association and all its employees for the interest and follow-up from the very beginning.”

He added: “Special thanks to His Excellency the Secretary General of the Federation for his diligence and communication until the completion of the procedures and the receipt of the visa.”

He concluded. “Big thanks to everyone who supported and contributed and now we continue the mission with greater determination to serve the nation. Let’s go to the World Cup.”
