A James Bond franchise is nothing if it’s not a show: Apart from the explosions and gunfights, even its quieter moments are filled with the glamor and glamor of elites and high-rises. Bond, however, has been a formidable force in espionage, often operating quietly and in the shadows. I am 007 The Greatest Lightstory from Hitman developer IO Interactive, this show rivals any Bond movie experience. For 20 hours of gameplay, this amazing show featured one of my favorite games of the year, full of exciting battles and adventures.
The game begins with Bond, still a British soldier, who is called with his team to investigate the unresponsive scientists working in the Icelandic wilderness. The group is thrown down and only Bond survives. The opening scene is, unfortunately, too simplistic, but it does its job of establishing Bond’s future. Despite the impossible odds, he succeeds, but not without killing a few bad guys and blowing things up. It is this, combined with his refusal to leave people to their fate, that attracts the attention of “M”, the new head of the restored “00” program of MI6 (the United Kingdom’s intelligence service). Bond joins a recruitment program and begins training, led by the irascible Greenway, played by The Walking Deadand Lennie James. To say too much would spoil the interesting plot, but the story touches on everything from two agents to the rise of AI and human control.
Don’t let his written title fool you: This is James Bond. She is beautiful, funny, an amazing warrior, incredibly intelligent, and incredibly sensitive and caring. No doubt a lot of it came from the evolution of Daniel Craig as a person, even if it has nothing to do with the movies. Most importantly, play as Bond to hear surprising, because it is very responsive, quick and flexible. In melee fights, he not only punches and kicks when you press the “hit” button, he will throw enemies backwards into walls and windows if they are close; they will hold broken things to destroy them on their heads; will charge them. Very Bright is powered by the Glacier engine, the same technology behind the Hitman series, creating an ultrarealistic environment, with destructive and internal elements; papers fly, smoke lingers, things spin and roll. Like Bond himself, nature is surprisingly responsive.
What it really does Very Bright work and variety in the mission. We go from following civil servants in a London night hideout to a Slovakian mansion with a giant chess set to find two agents. And, in keeping with Bond tradition, each role grows, often in unexpected ways. At one point, Bond is working on a car chase that can outrun and destroy a plane; Another job is for you to walk through a cave in the fictional city of Mauritania, and raise $100,000 by participating in various illegal activities, from boxing to gambling.
I should note that the pirates’ arena is where you meet Bawma, played by Lenny Kravitz. Incidentally, he is being treated by some places as the main enemy, when he is not the only one no villain, let alone the main villain, and has a screen time of about five minutes. It’s not a big loss, though: Kravitz’s performance is terrific, and his American accent is spot on.
Even if it comes from the group that created it HitmanI usually don’t have to wear disguises or cheat to go places – which happens very often Hitman which would also make a lot of sense in a spy game. Instead, Bond finds other ways, usually grates and sewers, to get into the place. I used camouflage twice in all my games. Stealth is still your primary means of communication, but there is no failsafe world. Bond can make quick work of multiple enemies, but it felt “wrong” when I failed in secret. If, like me, you’ve chosen to install a monitor to keep track of your movements, be prepared for a long time filled with very frustrating looking. I couldn’t tell if IO wanted me to think about evasion, he was given a check for a long discussion unskippable or the main platforming components.
Before starting any mission, as in the movies, Bond is trained by Q, the head of research at MI6 headquarters. Here, you can also talk to your friends, hear discussions about your missions, and so on. It made MI6 faceless but with people you knew. This will be important for future events that I would not want to spoil. You can pick up three weapons for each mission, from a laser clock to nausea arrows. Every tool is useful. A lock on the door? Laser it. A security guard blocking the corridor? Shoot him with nausea. Your choices affect how you complete events in the field. During the service, you will encounter different “opportunities”, which you return from Hitman. You can hear the reporter’s conversation late, then find out who it is to enter the restricted area; One day I hid someone’s license because I heard my friend’s name.
Very BrightThe variety keeps me on my toes, not letting me even think about where the game might go. The visuals and the pieces compete even in Unchanged, without making me feel like I’m just watching. It’s not Hitman– if the game that I originally expected given the developer; in fact, it’s one of the best games I’ve ever played, leaning on the elements that have made Bond so enduring. And with the future of the film franchise up in the air, Very Bright they are coming at the right time and clearly in the right hands.
007 The Greatest Light launches on PC, PS5, and Xbox on May 27th; a Switch 2 version is also in the works.
