Manchester City continue to hold talks with Enzo Maresca this week over Pep Guardiola’s successor.
Contrary to reports, not all points of the proposed three-year deal have been fully agreed upon yet.
However, a deal is expected to be finalized in the coming days as discussions center around his recruitment timeline, the make-up of his backroom staff and other finer details.
City announced on Tuesday that two more of Guardiola’s assistants – Pep Legenders And Kolo Toure – leaving the Etihad along with Lorenzo Buenaventura, Manel Estiarte and Xabi Mancisidor.
Maresca, who left Chelsea in dire circumstances in January, still has three-and-a-half years left on his contract.

The club’s lawyers are taking a keen interest in his next move, as compensation may be due.
Maresca informed Chelsea last autumn that he was the subject of City’s interest in eventually replacing Guardiola when he decided to leave after serving as assistant coach under him for the 2022/23 season.
Will Maresca succeed in Chelsea?

“I liked him at Chelsea. I thought he was a good manager. He’s going to Man City, he’s been there before, he’s worked in the Premier League before. He knows some of the players at City. I think he ticks every box.
“He’s not trying to get used to the place, he’s not coming into a league he’s never been in. I think he’ll go in and settle in pretty well.
“They will also need some players. But the problem is: Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City, Man United, Chelsea all need players. There aren’t that many players around.
“Who will be able to produce these players and pay the most?”

Guardiola has previously spoken about international management and when asked if he would ever consider taking it up. The England job, again, did not rule it out.
He said: “I have no absolute plans for my future. I stop to rest and recover the time I have missed with my children.
“They have grown up and there are many things that I haven’t done that I want to do. So I don’t think for a second about anything related to football for next year. I have to rest, I have to reflect.
“Afterwards, we’ll see what happens. I don’t have any plans, it’s just to relax and do a lot of things I haven’t done in the past – stupid things.”
Asked what he meant by “stupid stuff,” he said: “No one cares.”
